I must admit......
I have a confession to make......I have become a [check the e-mail junkie] over the last week....checking to see if we got a letter from the National Down syndrome Society telling us if our photograph that we submitted, was chosen for the Times Square Video.
The addiction is so bad, that I have run to the computer four [make that five] times today.....click, click, click goes that mouse to 'receive mail' and then I eagerly await the inbox to fill up.....sadly it has not filled up the letter I have been wishing for, but with junk mail [why, oh, why do I get 8 e-mails a day selling me a 'real' Rolex watch or a way to increase my sexual power?].....and if anyone knows how to filter out said junk mail, that would be great.
So I confess....I am anxious. I know that over 2000 photographs were submitted,,,,and for me [this photography obsessed Momma] my focus has been on Emma Sage, but more importantly, on finding the best image I have captured to submit to this amazing video that radiates the spirit of my sweet little girl.
This is our fourth year of submitting.....we have been chosen once, and what a thrill it was. Watching my little girl in Times Square on the big screen was truly a magical day.....being surrounded by many of our family and friends made it even more of a special event. But the other year [last year we sadly missed the New York City Buddy Walk due to the death of my nephew, Griffin Patrick] but the years before that Emma Sage was not in the video were as special....because to me, every single picture brought such joy to my heart.
The biggest thing for me, if we are chosen, is the opportunity to alert all the local news media and get an article written on awareness.....that is the main reason I have submitted Emma Sage's photograph,,,,to have a lead-in to getting our local community papers to write a positive article on Down syndrome to raise community awareness.
So I confess........I am an e-mail checking junkie,,,,,,and if you happen to know if they already sent out the offical notice to those chosen, could you let me know, so I can finally kick this obsession I have suddenly developed! ;)

Emma Sage perched up on her Uncle Mikey's shoulders, smack in the middle of Times Square wathcing the Buddy Walk video [and she was just so excited when she saw herself up on the big screen.]

Well TM, I hope that one of your photos has been chosen. I didn't enter any this year simply because I forgot.
So, I would love to see one of my dear online friends to be so fortunate as to be in the video.
Thanks @always......for me, being so close to NYC makes it extra special to enter, as we can watch it on the big screen [a totally awesome experience]. The entry said they would alert those chosen in early August....so you know me,,,I've been checking my e-mail [in increasing intervals] since the 1st of August!!! lol!!!!
Next year you must enter your sweet Miss E!!!!
and then I will stand ready in Times Square and take a still image of your sweet little girl up on the big screen in the middle of Times Square [I did that the first year of all the images of children that we knew the families of!]
Hey Tara,
I sent in Emma Grace's pic too. I've heard nothing. I sent some in last year but she didn't get picked... so I was hoping maybe this year she would. I'll let ya know if I hear anything.
Mary, I'm so glad you posted. I lost your e-mail. Could you e-mail me at tara.hintz@gmail.com?
I was hoping we could get the girls together over the next few weeks and/or in NYC at the Buddy Walk.
Drop me a line so I can re-add you to my address book! Thanks!
Haven't heard anything here either. I haven't seen any postings on boards about kids who have been chosen so I am guess they haven't sent out the e-mails yet. I know when Claire makes the video, we'll be making a trip to the NYC walk!
Good luck to all of us!
Hi TM,
I just wanted to let you know I have emailed you about the Gifts project--it is an important email--so please be sure to check asap.
I have sent it to both of the email addy's I have for you.
It's late so I will likely sleep in a bit in the morning. My insomnia returned full roar as soon as I was feeling better.
Thanks again for the phone call yesterday....much love
Good luck and I love all your photographs!
Blessings to you!
I have a feeling they haven't sent their emails out yet as I haven't seen anyone on the T21 board mention it! Will be keeping my fingers crosed!
I so hope Miss Emma Sage makes it this year. I check daily also to see if any of Hope's made it this year.
Time will tell... let me know if you hear anything.
Hugs
Debra and Hope
Hi,
My name is Laura and I too am an email checking addict!!!! Too funny! Anyway, I couldn't take it anymore and just called NDSS. She said the person handling the video will not be in until Monday, so she doubts the notices will go out before then..so enjoy the rest of the week/weekend, and start getting crazed again next week!
L
LoL, Laura,,,,I got a few private e-mails from some other 'e-mail checking junkies'....so I guess I'm not the only one!
I'm sorry we missed the party,,,,so wanted to go, but life is swirling, twirling [Rick got motivated as he had an unexpected break in being away and we painted two sides of the house]....
To all of you who are keeping your fingers crossed...thank you, and I hope that all of our sweet childrens photographs are chosen this year!!!! and if not....we will still be in Times Square, ooohhhh-ing and awe-ing over all those that are included this year!
We haven't heard anything yet. Although a few months ago a lady from NDSS called and asked if they could use one of the pics we submitted for an early intervention pamphlet in NYC... Not sure what became of that - but if you see him, send me one ;) I think it's so cool that you get to actually attend the BIG Buddy walk :) Brady's pics have never been selected, so maybe this year - who knows :) Hope Miss ES makes it in - she is too precious!!
