Summer Reading

I'm an avid reader......always have been. I can clearly remember my father reading to me daily as a tiny little girl and teaching myself to read very early with books that my Mamie and PopPop gave me as a gift. When I was a young girl, I set out to read every book in the young readers section of our little local library and then moved on to the adult sections. I can't go to bed without reading.

I believe reading is one of the greatest gifts in this world.....a treasure greater than any precious gem.

So if you are looking for an amazing read this summer as you set off on a trip to the shore or the lake, or even in the backyard sitting on the lawnchair with your feet soaking in the kiddie-pool, here is my suggestion.

This book is simply one of the most powerful and beautifully written books I have ever read.

Gilead

Absolutely! I loved it too - especially its portrayal of the different relationships in it - and those of father and son in particular. I liked the discussion of some sort of wilderness in us and how we send our children into the wilderness etc as the father was reading the Trail of the Lonesome Pine
