Thank you for this.

I think many of us had the same feeling of unease with the juxtaposition of our children in today's society of choice. It will be heartening to many to see this brought to the bigger stage of the mainstream media. It is a discussion that is waiting to happen.

Great articles Tara. So many complexities of our world today. What keeps me pro choice is working in human services where there are so many abused and unwanted/neglected babies that are damaged via poverty, incest, substances and just plain poor parenting skills/knowledge. Abortion of fetus' diagnosed with Down Syndrome is based on the myth of the perfect baby- as though challenges might not present themselves at other developmental points. Sheer ignorance and I trust, just as some people favor adopting children with Down Syndrome, some people will always be willing to give birth to such wonderful additions to the planet.

Starrlife.....I am pro-choice.

I am anti-eugenics.

I think what hit me the most about both opinions is that the underlying predjudice against people with Down syndrome......sadly still exists today.
