What do you do on a very rainy day?

You make oatmeal raisin cookies!!

Emma Sage loves to measure, mix, [nibble on the dough] and bake cookies. We use this as a time to work on reading and math. I type of the recipe in big words with pictures [I usually just draw them in for her, as I'm not great at finding clip art] and then I put all the ingredients on the counter [use word labels on the containers] and put out the basket of measuring cups and spoons an help her read the recipe, find the right labled ingredient, find the right measurment tool.....help her scoop up the ingredients and put them in the Kitchen Aide Mixer [a special gift from my Mother to me for my birthday a few years ago...] She insists on cracking the eggs, so we do that in a seperate bowl, or we would be baking crunchy, oatmeal raisin cookies.

Here a picture of my little girl mixing the dry ingredients.....
