Down syndrome in the news.....

There have been two articles in the Wall Street Journal regarding Down syndrome/Trisomy 21.

The first is a research piece that was done by Brian Skotko, a student at Harvard Medical School, published papers in two academic journals, based on a survey of more than 1,000 mothers. The survey asked an unusual question: How were they told that their child had Down syndrome?

The second is an article 'A Young Woman With Disabilities Plans Her Wedding ~ Ms. Bergeron's Down Syndrome Left Her Feeling Isolated Until She Met a Musician Learning to Keep House'

Considering, October is Down syndrome awareness month, it is so refreshing to me to see two front page articles on the topic of Down syndrome in the Wall Street Journal.

During my media relations days, I spent a lot of time with journalists and editors of the WSJ....and seeing these two pieces made me realize why I like working with them so much!!! Two thumbs up WSJ.....two thumbs up!!!!

Thanks for the articles, I hadn't read the one about the wedding. I found it both sad and hopeful. I really hope Callum finds a special someone when he's older.

Can you summarize the articles for me? I don't have a registration. Or is there a general registration combo I can use to read them?

I changed the link for the research article by Brian Stotko, so I hope this helps.

It is quite interesting to me to see the amount of interest that this research piece has gotten. If you notice, their is a disclaimer from author on how this was not a 'scientific research' project.

I think it hits a nerve of society and I'm so thankful it is being acknowledged.
